ESG Manager

An ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Manager oversees an organization’s sustainability and ethical impact strategies, ensuring they align with regulatory, investor, and stakeholder expectations. This role is crucial for companies aiming to meet climate commitments, enhance social responsibility, and implement transparent governance practices.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement the organization’s ESG strategy, integrating sustainability goals with broader corporate objectives.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align ESG goals with business objectives and drive strategic initiatives.
- Policy and Program Management:
- Create policies and manage programs that support environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and governance transparency.
- Lead the development of key ESG programs, including energy efficiency, carbon reduction, diversity and inclusion, community engagement, and ethical governance.
- ESG Reporting and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local and international ESG standards and reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD,GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting for ESG metrics, producing reports for stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and investors.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, investors, regulators, and community representatives, to communicate ESG initiatives.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson on ESG matters, representing the company at public forums, conferences, and industry events.
Risk Management and Mitigation:
- Identify ESG risks, including environmental, regulatory, reputational, and operational risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Work closely with risk management and compliance teams to integrate ESG risks into the organization’s risk management framework.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Track progress against ESG objectives, using data and analytics to measure impact.
- Regularly update executive leadership and the board on ESG performance, making adjustments to strategies as necessary.
Requirements
Educational Background:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, business administration, or a related field; a master’s degree or MBA is often preferred.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, corporate responsibility, or a related field, with a track record of leading ESG initiatives.
- Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks and experience working in a corporate or consulting role is advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to guide cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in ESG reporting and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of European languages (German, Spanish, Italian) Advantage
- Analytical and Strategic Thinking: Ability to analyze ESG data to guide strategic decisions.
- Ethics and Integrity: High commitment to ethical business practices and social responsibility.
Change Management:
- Skill in implementing and managing change within large organizations, including fostering a culture of sustainability.
