Summary:Responsible for managing and controlling of the financial operations of Insmed’s legal entities in Europe, in order to have actual and adequate insight of the financial position and ensuring accurate availability of balance sheet and P&L data according to GAAP and other financial standards.
This includes the financial accounting, monthly closings, financial reporting, cash management, payroll, tax compliance and SOX. This role will direct and oversee the accounting, tax and payroll services provided by Shared Services Provider and will liaise closely with Insmed’s Finance department in Bridgewater and collaborate closely with the other functions in the organization as needed.
Responsibilities: RESPONSIBILITIES- Review and coordination of monthly, quarterly and year-end closing activities and external reporting in accordance with the Company’s reporting schedule and with local regulations
- Collaborate with different stakeholders across the organization to ensure accurate presentation and valuation of all assets & liabilities
- Responsible for VAT and income tax reporting & compliance, in cooperation with Shared Services Provider and external tax advisors
- Ensure that employee payroll, related expenses and other (fringe) benefits are accurately and timely recorded and paid
- Preparation of quarterly cashflow reports and funding requirements
- Management of accounts receivable aging, including credit and collections
- Ensure (i) compliance with US GAAP and (ii) proper treatment of significant accounting and tax items. Provides early warning to sr. management regarding material issues
- Responsible for adapting global (finance) policies and for the development and maintenance of required European finance policies
- Design, develop, implement financial processes and verify the efficiency of internal controls; ensure compliance with SOX and the company’s accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with local legal/finance/tax requirements by researching existing and new legislation and regulations, consulting with outside advisors as necessary. Advise management of actions and potential risks
- Act as point of contact for external and internal auditors. Take ownership for resolving key audit findings and significant accounting matters
- Initiate, advice on and support enhancement of financial systems
- Take part in the development of the financial, tax and legal strategies
- Take part in the operational and strategic planning processes
- Minimum of 10 years of Accounting/Finance experience in European managerial Accounting/Finance role with exposure to all aspects of the finance function, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Excellent understanding of an effective and efficient internal control environment, including Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
- Strong theoretical knowledge of accounting principles and standards (incl. US GAAP), financial reporting and tax laws.
- Experience in implementation of financial systems
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or finance, Master’s degree is preferred
- Excellent leadership and management skills (people, budget, project and program)
- Ability to lead others without authority to move internal and external teams towards achieving goals that support Insmed’s key strategic objectives
- Demonstrated experience improving, developing and implementing new processes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas and influence others that achieve desired results
- Strong analytical and computer skills
- Works effectively across functions as a team player
- Successful experience in fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Outstanding integrity, solid moral judgment and the ability to make important decisions under pressure.
- Strong business sense
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to both finance professionals and non-specialists
- Fluent in English and at least one other European language (preferably Dutch)

- This position is in the Netherlands. Approximately 10% travel (domestic and international).
