Solutions Architect - Privacy
Role Description:
Booking.com has a vision to make every trip a Connected Trip. As the Solutions Architect for Privacy, you will join the architecture team of the Marketplace business function. Marketplace is responsible for the overall traveller experience and is responsible for defining and driving our product vision.
You will be joining Booking.com at an incredible moment in our history. The Connected Trip strategy is driving significant change to our technology landscape, making the importance of architecture greater than ever before. You will join a team of cross functional technology leaders who support the organisation in defining its strategy and providing architectural guidance to product development teams.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties- Technical Leadership
- Take privacy requirements from the Legal team and translate these into short, medium and long term architectural plans that feed the backlog of the engineering teams
- Build a picture of the technical landscape of Booking.com as it relates to privacy. Work with system owners across the organisation to understand what customer data is collected, what consent is required, and ensure that we honour this consent.
- Identify which teams need to be involved across the business units to deliver the privacy requirements and ensure that these requirements are in the teams' backlog.
- Educate engineers across booking to understand the "why" behind privacy requirements and ensure that everybody considers privacy when building solutions.
- Support and justify the chosen technical solutions and build a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure feature development and strategy satisfy the business's short- and long-term needs.
- Strategic support of strategic initiatives while continuously communicating privacy goals, learnings, and aspirations
- Seeks and remains open to feedback from direct and indirect stakeholders to continuously improve leadership skills
- Able to influence without having direct authority
Role Qualifications and Requirements:
- Problem solver, can identify and analyse complex issues and develop a clear approach to solving them
- Excellent communication skills, can effectively communicate with stakeholders in different roles and levels, clearly communicate strategic vision and big picture but also specific details. Great written and presentation skills
- Expert stakeholder management and influencing skills - Able to bring diverse stakeholders together to agree and move forward with an approach or plan
- Expert analytical skills - Able to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend effective action plans to resolve issues
- Ability to thrive and work in a fast-paced, results driven environment with multiple responsibilities
- Creativity and curiosity - A creative problem solver with a deep curiosity about our customers, business and product
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are essential
- 10+ years of relevant technical experience, 5+ years of direct solutions architecture experience
- Experience working on Platforms, E-commerce services, and complex technical environments is a must
- Experience documenting the current state of systems, and then communicating the desired end state to stakeholders
