We are currently looking for an entrepreneurial Financial Analyst to be part of the dynamic and fast-paced Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. In this role you will report directly to a Senior Manager of the Trips Business Unit FP&A team, consisting of several verticals, one of which is Flights.You will be working in our office in Amsterdam.
You will work closely with various stakeholders responsible for commercial aspects of the flights business. You will work independently using your experience in data collection, preparation, analysis and visualization to produce reports, define KPIs and provide insights into risks & opportunities.You will be responsible for forecasting and analyzing the performance of the flights vertical of Booking.com. This includes revenues, fixed and variable expenses and various non-financial KPIs. You will also be responsible for leading the trading meetings from the FP&A side, and have full ownership of the month end close cycle for the flights vertical (incluidng liaising with accounting to ensure correct and accurate monthly results, as well as production of regular monthly business reporting documents).
Due to the rapid and continuous growth of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the flights vertical in decision making, setting directions and exploring new avenues through financial analysis and insight
- Lead analysis of flights unit sales, revenue and other commercial data to develop performance insights and inform the forecasting process.
- In collaboration with other teams, forecast flight sales, revenue, fixed and variable costs on a regular basis.
- Visualize your analysis and report your work in such a way that your business partners are able to easily understand it to make decisions.
- Work with accounting and business teams on month-end close to accurately report results including explanatory comments;
- Contribute to robust, scalable and insightful reporting of key metrics;
- Continuously seek ways to improve existing processes and reporting to fit with evolving requests from senior management;
- Perform ad-hoc analysis, scenarios and benchmarking as needed and contribute to new business/expansion/cost control projects and process improvement as and when business requires.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or other related field;
- 3-5 years of relevant experience;
- Advanced knowledge of Excel;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Financial modeling and analytical skills;
- Ability to use SQL is a must, pre-existing knowledge or desire to get familiar with Python and/or Spark is a plus;
- Commercial and inquisitive attitude;
- Ability to listen, work with and proactively advise business partners;
- Sees the headlines whilst having attention for the details;
- Is able to explain economics and Finance to non-Finance business partners in a simple, understandable manner;
- Ability to be a reliable, hands-on deliverer of quality results;
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English;
- Strong team player while being able to work independently;
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and working in an unstructured environment;
- Self-starter, independent, autonomous and able to prioritize projects;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.
