Database Administrator - Den Haag

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our dynamic team, driving database performance, security, and reliability in complex enterprise environments.

Your Role

As a Senior Database Administrator at inventYOU, you will be responsible for:

• Database Administration: Perform daily administration tasks for Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra Databases.
• Database Server Deployment: Install, configure, patch, and upgrade database servers, DBMS, and databases.
• Virtual Server Configuration: Manage and update virtual servers and operating systems, focusing on Microsoft Windows Server.
• Health Monitoring: Set up metrics for database, server, and OS health; use tools like SCOM to proactively monitor and resolve issues.
• Security Management: Implement data security policies, manage database access, and conduct audits to ensure compliance.
• Database Maintenance: Schedule and oversee database maintenance tasks, including backups, integrity checks, and index maintenance.
• Backup and Recovery: Design and execute backup strategies, integrate with OS-level backups, and ensure data recovery meets standards.
• Performance Tuning: Monitor performance metrics and optimize database queries using tools like SolarWinds DPA.
• Business Continuity: Configure High Availability & Disaster Recovery solutions, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Clusters.
• Automation: Develop scripts for automating routine tasks using Powershell and Bash.
• DevOps Integration: Build DevOps pipelines for database changes with AzureDevOps, FlyWay, and Puppet.
• Data Modelling: Update and maintain standard operating procedures.
• Change Management: Deploy database changes in accordance with compliance standards.
• Coordination: Collaborate across teams for troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges.
• Communication: Mediate discussions with stakeholders and foster teamwork.
• Training & Knowledge Transfer: Educate internal teams for seamless transitions and self-sufficiency.
• Ticket Handling: Manage incidents and changes promptly, meeting SLAs and prioritizing critical tasks.

Requirements

Eligibility Requirement:

• Please note: This position is only open to EU nationals due to the need for security clearance at some point in the project.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in English at B2 level or higher.
• At least 8 years of experience as an ICT Consultant managing mission-critical systems in enterprise settings.
• 6+ years of Database Administration experience handling sensitive data in high-security environments.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with:
• MariaDB/MySQL: Tools like MySQL Workbench, maria backup, mysqlbinlog.
• PostgreSQL: Technologies such as pgAdmin, pgBackRest, and Patroni.

Desired experience includes:

• 3+ years with HA & DR solutions, clustering, and data replication.
• Experience with MongoDB, Cassandra, VMware, and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
• Experience in BI solutions, DevOps pipelines, and automated deployments.
