Legal Collection Specialist

Role Description:

The Legal Collections Specialist is focusing on Collecting Agency and Credit Control operational support. The Specialist role is focused on inbound communication with external and internal stakeholders, reopening of accounts after the debt is fully paid or if it is part of the reopening campagnes.

The Specialists role is also data oriented, and it will be expected to look into process improvements after dealing with inbound and being the leading person in operational approach e.g. maintain RPA solutions and analyze the post robotis approach by highlighting challenges and looking into improvement options .

He or she acts as the first point of contact to the Global Credit Control team.

The scope is global and it will involve cooperation with various teams and Collecting Agencies across the different regions . The Legal Collection Specialist will be expected to support a Legal Collection Process Analysts and Legal Collection team Lead with projects and Controls to reduce the risk within Booking.com and to support strategic business initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support Booking.com BV in performing and improving existing legal collection operation effectively
  • Manage inbound and operations ( e.g., operational reports ) for external collecting agencies
  • Analyze collection agency performance and propose strategies to ensure we effectively manage risk and write off
  • Review and update accounts under the credit risk portfolio and maintain accounts receivable aging within agreed and accepted parameters
  • Perform of internal and SOX audit controls
  • Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in data sets to provide advice to Credit Control Operations when needed
  • Together with the rest of the team, support Credit Control department in all incoming queries and Legal Collections trainings
  • Validate the statistical reports from internal and external sources
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with internal and external stakeholders on significant issues
  • Perform in accordance with business policy and procedures
  • Innovate and implement scalable solutions for our day to day operations

Key skills and experienced required:

  • At least 1 year of experience in one of the following areas– Credit Control – Credit Risk– Working with Collection agencies
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Exposures in Project Management
  • Familiar with Finance Systems and database management systems ( SAP, SQL, Hadoop)
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google documents , Word and Visio.
  • Excellent oral communication, problem solving skills and a creative thinker with focus on process improvement.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with ability to identify and communicate value-added observations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and consistent follow-through
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as an effective team member
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with all levels of staff and external parties.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines, comfortable working in a quick turnaround environment, while maintaining accuracy
