Software Developer

(Bioinformatics Software Tester)

to join our team in Wageningen, The Netherlands.

YOUR POSITION
The Software Developer (Bioinformatics Software Tester) is a member of our Bioinformatics & Software
Development team that ensures the quality of our cutting-edge software for genetics and genomics
analyses. As a Software Developer you will maintain and develop regression testing pipelines and perform
acceptance testing for newly developed bioinformatics and genetics analysis tools and visualisations. You

will also contribute to defining requirements for upcoming software and assist with supporting users

performing their analyses. You will work in a multidisciplinary team of software developers, bioinformaticians and a system administrator. You report to the Team Lead of Bioinformatics & Software

Development.

YOUR PROFILE
  • Master Degree in Bioinformatics, or similar
  • Good understanding of bioinformatics algorithms and genomics
  • Experience (3+ years) programming with Python or R and enthusiastic about writing efficient code
  • Responsible, detail-oriented and able to critically assess bioinformatics challenges and solutions
  • Familiar with version control (git) and notebooks (Jupyter)
  • Experience programming with an object-oriented language (preferably Java) is desirable
  • Knowledge of testing frameworks and approaches is desirable
  • Excited about learning new methods/technologies and applying them
  • A good communicator who is fluent in English
  • A team player who likes to work in a cross-disciplinary team
Genetwister offers you a challenging job (32-40 hours) in a commercial research environment with
professionals who are passionate about innovation and application. The position is based at our offices in
Wageningen and is not a remote position. You have the ability to work partially from home in accordance

with our working-from-home policy.
