External Investing Group (XIG)
The External Investing Group (“XIG”) provides investors with investment and advisory solutions, across leading hedge fund managers, private equity and private credit funds, real estate managers, public equity strategies, fixed income strategies and ESG and impact strategies across all asset classes.
XIG manages globally diversified programs, targeted sector-specific strategies, customized portfolios, and a range of advisory services. Our investors access opportunities through new fund commitments, fund-of-fund investments, strategic partnerships, secondary-market investments, co-investments, and seed-capital investments.
With over 350 professionals across 13 offices around the world, XIG provides manager diligence, portfolio construction, risk management, and liquidity solutions to investors, drawing on Goldman Sachs’ market insights and risk management expertise.
We extend these global capabilities to the world’s leading sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, governments, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, high net worth individuals and family offices, for which we invest or advise on over $360 billion of alternative investments, public equity strategies and fixed income strategies.

Public Markets Investment Team
The XIG Public Markets Investment Team is part of the External Investing Group (XIG) and has been responsible for sourcing, examining, and investing in leading public market strategies for clients since 1999. Our public markets investment team has also been managing multi-manager discretionary portfolios on behalf of clients since its inception.As of December 2023, the team managed over $220 billion across portfolios of public market investments in equity, fixed income, and real asset strategies[1]. A member of the Public Markets Investment due diligence team is responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and monitoring external public markets investment strategies that are utilized in GS private wealth or institutional client portfolios.
The specific role as full-time Analyst is within the Public Markets Investment Team in the Netherlands and would entail the following roles and responsibilities:
- Participate in the process to identify, evaluate, and analyze externally managed public investments and private Real Estate investments, managed outside of Goldman Sachs. This includes the research and analysis of both new opportunities as well as existing external investments.
- The due diligence process combines qualitative and quantitative analysis through interactions and engagements with external public markets fund managers and private market Real Estate fund managers. Participate in due diligence visits and calls with new and existing external strategies, monitor performance and the risk profile of existing investments.
- Work within small coverage teams to prepare investment memorandums and present recommendations within team meetings and support with the written presentation at Investment Committees.
- Support and participate in portfolio construction activities to build and manage a portfolio of multiple external long only and private Real Estate investment products.
- Commentary on external funds, market-level performance, and related industry topics such as active management.
- Contribute to a range of group-wide activities including client-related investment projects, various research publications, and business development initiatives.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and a passion for investing.
- Demonstrated orientation toward and interest in understanding financial markets and investment management.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
