Payroll Manager Europe

The HR Operations team Europe, part of Corporate Human Resources, is a dedicated group of approximately 20 professionals. We manage personnel and payroll administration, along with additional services, for our approximately 3000 employees across Europe.

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager Europe to lead our payroll operations across multiple European countries. The Payroll Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring, operational effectiveness, employee satisfaction financial accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

As our European Payroll manager, you are going to make an impact by improving all aspects of our payroll services. You will provide tactical direction, leadership, coordination, and oversight to ensure alignment with organizational goals and driving success across DLL.
You will also have a key project management responsibility as we further consolidate payroll operations across Europe and consolidate the number of suppliers. Responsible for Europe, you will be leading a team of 5 enthusiastic professionals in our HR Operations team.

You are able to describe yourself as a non-hierarchical people manager who should enable the mature team to operate as a high performing team.

In this role you will govern effective and efficient execution of the European payroll. You need a strong focus on people leadership, process improvement, change and transition management with the ability to properly maintain relevant relationships with employees, line management and HR.

Day to day:

  • Leadership: Provide functional leadership to a team of around 5 local Payroll Administrators.
  • Coordination: directing the end-to-end payroll processes, overseeing daily operations, ensuring all tasks are completed on time.
  • Hands-On Support: Stepping in to assist with payroll tasks during peak times or staff absences, while maintaining overall responsibility for payroll execution across all European countries where DLL operates.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with national and local payroll laws and regulations, including tax filings and reporting requirements.
  • Payroll Reporting: Generating payroll reports and summaries for management, auditing, and regulatory purposes.
  • Record Keeping: ensuring accurate payroll records and documentation are maintained.
  • Payroll Service Providers: interacting with and management of external payroll service providers to ensure they fully are fulfilling their service obligations.
  • System Integration: Manage integrations between the payroll system and other systems such as HR systems, pension funds, and insurers.
  • Process Improvement: Design and enhance processes greater efficiency and accuracy within the payroll function.
  • Compliance Oversight: Serve as the point of contact for audits, accountants, information security, data privacy, compliance, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Strategic Implementation: Lead the implementation of the new payroll strategy in your area, including changes to the operating model and project managing the transition to new suppliers and systems.

Essentials:

  • A bachelor’s degree (HBO) in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrable experience of running payrolls across multiple European countries.
  • Over 10 years of experience in payroll management of which at least 5 years. would be specifically managing a payroll function in an international company.
  • Experience in a Financial institution is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of international tax legislation and social administration.
  • Proficiency in payroll processes, systems, and interfaces.
  • Proven experience with international payroll transitions and changing payroll suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical ability.
  • You have the ability to manage a team in a non- hierarchical way.
  • You know how to thrive in a corporate environment.
