The Challenge

We are looking for an Internal Communication Officer

(*) As our priority is finding the best candidate for the role, the hours of employment are open for discussion.

This role is positioned within the HR department, organized within the HRM, ICT & General Affairs group of the Stamicarbon organization, the Licensing and IP center for the Maire Group. The HR department liaises strongly with the Management Team to ensure correct company information and HR-related advice and support can be provided to managers and employees.

This role also links with our Marketing department, due to the synergy between internal and external communication.

The purpose of this position is to further strengthen internal communication, management communication and change communication within our organization. Additionally, it aims to translate the organizational strategy into concrete internal communication activities across various channels and execute the operational process to ensure delivery in line with Stamicarbon’s vision, values, strategy, brand guidelines and quality standards, all supportive of Stamicarbon’s company culture.

Lastly, the role involves advising managers on communication processes and tools, as well as challenging and coaching them on communication issues.

As Internal Communication Officer, you will inform, engage and inspire our employees, and contribute to the realization of Stamicarbon’s ambitions. A natural storyteller with keen news sense and attention for detail, you will communicate important changes, milestones, successes, challenges and more, in a way that resonates with our growing, diverse team of international employees.

As part of your role, you will jointly manage the intranet news homepage (with approximately 10 items featured at all times) and physical posters around our office building, ensuring that they remain timely and are regularly refreshed.

Your key areas of responsibility are to:

  • Support the development of the Internal Communication strategy and drive its execution in line with Stamicarbon’s strategy;
  • Actively participate in the internal branding process (Vision, Values) with HR and Marketing;
  • Act as an in-house journalist, writing and creating intranet items (e.g., company news, project milestones, lessons learned, change communication, career updates and social news) to inform and support employees in their work, while also fostering engagement;
  • Select the channel(s) and design content that best fits the topic and purpose (mostly written, but could also be posters, videos, presentations, etc.);
  • Pro-actively advise/support management on internal communication topics;
  • Anticipate issues and communication needs/impact and advise accordingly;
  • Develop communication actions to support employee engagement and company strategy;
  • Align with HR colleagues to ensure clear communication of HR policies, activities, changes;
  • Link with Marketing colleagues to align internal and external communication; actively share internal communication topics/ activities that could add value to external marketing and communication efforts;
  • Support other Stamicarbon teams with internal communication (e.g., ICT, Quality, Culture Team, Works Council) as needed/appropriate;
  • Provide advice and

  • edit intranet news items produced by other content owners;
  • Participate in the continuous development of the intranet/digital workplace;
  • Coach colleagues and managers in clear and effective communication;
  • Lead approval process - discern approval level needed for each communication item;
  • Measure the impact of your work;
  • Support employee engagement at all levels of the company;
  • Act as a positive change agent and culture role model.

The Candidate

As our next Internal Communication Officer, you have:

  • Bachelor's degree within Communication, Journalism, Marketing or Public Relations and 5-10 years of experience in an editorial or communication-related role (salary will match experience).
  • Experience in internal communication or within a technical, industrial or international business environment is an advantage;
  • Proven track record in the creation of high quality, engaging content and in the execution of strategic (internal) communication activities;
  • Ability to lead, engage, coach and liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong written skills, with accuracy and attention for detail, and an excellent command of both spoken and written English (C1).

Valued competences:

  • Creative, design and video creation/editing skills are an advantage;
  • Tact, planning, organizational and relationship-building skills;
  • Cultural and diversity awareness and understanding, and an affinity with working in an international environment;
  • True team player with a 'can do' attitude, willing to contribute at all levels in a small but high performing team environment.
  • Curiosity and drive to obtain and gain further in-depth knowledge and understanding of the technical and chemical environment.
