Booking.com is looking for a Video Collaboration Operations Engineer. As a member of a small team, you will be part of the team responsible for the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of all AV, VC and Collaboration solutions used to collaborate with teams across the globe.

These collaboration and communication applications and services include Zoom, Google Meet, Webex, AV hardware, Auditorium technologies, AV monitoring, AV asset management, Digital Signage (Appspace), Miro (digital whiteboarding), etc.

A Video Collaboration Operations Engineer responsible for managing the escalations queue of the video collaboration team. The Video Operations Engineer is a hands-on technician that solves problems related to video conference, digital signage, meeting rooms, auditoriums and everything related to audio and video within the office.

Also responsible for implementing solutions to mitigate known issues from ever happening again. Collaboration Experience is the back office team responsible for the implementation and support of the internal video collaboration solutions in Booking.com.

You’re responsible for supporting highly reliable, well performing video solutions that fit our current ecosystem and running onsite events in our special spaces. You work together with the other departments of Booking, especially with Networking, Security and Infrastructure to deliver the best in class corporate video solutions in the market.

You operate with minimal supervision, deep knowledge of our systems and independent judgment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • In person support of events in all our special spaces such as the Auditorium and multifunctional spaces
  • Responsible for escalations and our ticketing queue
  • Training the IT Support teams to deflect escalations
  • Troubleshoot video-related issues
  • Maintain video collaboration escalations from support properly and keep the ticket queue up to date
  • Assist the team with technical hands on fixes
  • Eventually train users and create support material to better assist Service Desk and our colleagues
  • Emphasis on Audio and Video technologies
  • Support end users and hardware/software fixes
  • Help implementing our video collaboration strategy

What you will bring:

Essential skills:

  • Good hands-on experience with AV and Video Conferencing support, maintenance and implementations.
  • Team player and fluent in the English language (both spoken and written).
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, quick thinking, collaborative, open-minded, motivational, and team building) and ability to collaborate effectively across the team and the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate within a diverse, cross-functional team.
  • Self-starter with an ability to adapt and being open to learn new things.
  • Ability to draft and present technical reports
  • Proficient knowledge of various video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Cisco WebEx, BlueJeans, Pexip, etc.)
  • Familiar with general AV equipment and terminology (cameras, video conferencing devices, sound boards, DSP, DTP, gain staging, XLR, etc.)
  • Able to read and understand AV system diagrams and troubleshoot AV setups.
  • Experience providing IT support in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with macOS and Windows devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot networking issues.

Advantageous skills and abilities:

  • Experience with video production, editing and live streaming.
  • Experience supporting Miro and Appspace
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Technical & operational knowledge with audio visual equipment in a live event setting, demonstrating proficiency in one of the areas across audio, video, lighting and projection disciplines.
  • Understanding of video conferencing and live streaming protocols/codecs (H323, SIP, RTMPS, VP8, H.264).
  • Events support such as video production, recording, audio and lighting desk operator
