We are seeking a highly motivated self-starter to join the Caring for the Earth Sector as an Interim Programme Officer for a parental cover. You will be closely working with Programme Managers and Challenge Leads, supporting them with delivery of the programmatic work.
The focus areas for you to support are the Regenerative Agriculture and the Purposeful Business Programmes (with more time dedicated to Purposeful Business topics). Research and content support on areas of possible cross-challenge collaboration will be one of the key-areas for you to explore in your role as Programme Officer.
Job DescriptionThe Programme Officer supports Programmatic teams with the delivery of programmatic work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe exact activities will be agreed upon with the Sector Director and can include: Programme Implementation
- Coordinating/tracking programme/grant pipeline.
- Support in the development, design, and implementation of programs where applicable.
- Support the delivery of programmes by assisting the programme managers in designing, and implementing grant monitoring and evaluation processes, as well as assisting monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Support building relationship with grantees:
- organising and participating in grantee meetings and convenings;
- fostering connections among partners and regions;
- notetaking and synthesizing results.
- Supporting MEL processes and data collection/analysis
- Support the development of a nascent funder learning platform "Funders4Nature" - addressing the economic systems drivers of nature loss from the private sector and financial flows.
- Support the leading philanthropies to develop terms of references and a cadence of educational calls for 3 tracks: Environmentally Harmful Subsidies, Nature Finance and Corporate Accountability for nature.
- Support the Caring 4The Earth teams to develop out potential grants related to Agricultural harmful subsidies/policy coherence.
- Contributing to internal team organisation, supporting PM with programme team meetings
- Contributing to content preparation of Sector Investment Committees meetings and preparing meeting materials
- Contributing to the development and tracking of budgets.
- Prepares aggregated reports and fulfils reporting requirements as requested.
- Support other POs and PMs with ad hoc tasks during this period to ensure that the people on parental leave have their tasks sufficiently covered.
- Assist the team with logistical aspects of convening thought leaders, stakeholders, and partners. Could potentially support in facilitation.
- Proactively contributes to a learning dynamic by supporting the team in researching, analysing, and sharing new and relevant insights with the wider team.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must have full working rights in the country applied for and must be based in one of the following cities: Amsterdam, Zug, New York, or Nairobi
- Immediate availability is highly desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to the work supported or equivalent level obtained by work experience.
- At least 3 years of professional experience, preferably in an international organisation, philanthropic foundation, or NGO.
- Basic experience in grant administration / grant management or project- and process-management.
- Experience in MEL processes and organizing convenings.
- Fluency in English
- Experience/knowledge with climate and nature topics is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and service-oriented mentality
- Excellent organisational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in supporting the delivery of complex programmes in fast-paced and changing environment.
- Familiarity with grant making or CRM systems such as Salesforce
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
- Problem solving skills, analytical and strict attention to detail
- Proactive and a continuous improvement mentality

- The position is full-time with an option for 80/90%
- We offer a compensation ranging from EUR 48.000 to EUR 61.000 (Netherlands) // CHF 88.000
- CHF 110.000 (Switzerland) // USD 65.000
- USD 88.000 (USA) // KES 2,793,100
- KES 5,270,000 (Kenya) on a full-time basis based on experience and skill
- We work on a hybrid 40/60 office/home model.
- You may work remotely from any location in the world for 10 days per calendar year.
- An (online) assessment can be part of the recruitment process. Reference checks are part of the final hiring procedure.
- The role reports to the Sector Director Caring for the Earth
- Ideally, the cover would be from November 2024 to mid-June 2025
