THE CHALLENGEAre you passionate about hands-on lab work and love experimenting with new ideas? We’re looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our innovation team in Geleen! If you're someone who enjoys diving into data, solving problems, and keeping things organized in the lab together with a group of enthusiastic colleagues, this could be the perfect role for you.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Lab Test Requests: You’ll manage lab test requests from your colleagues, turn them into work orders, and keep everything documented in the system.
- Evaluate & Challenge: When requests come in, you’ll use your expertise to make sure they make sense and challenge them where needed.
- Planning & Organizing: Work with your teammates to plan out work orders and distribute tasks across the team of technicians and engineers.
- Keep Everyone in the Loop: You’ll be in charge of communicating updates and important information back to the requestors.
- Analyze Data: After the experiments, you’ll interpret and analyze the data, running any necessary statistical checks, and then come up with solid conclusions.
- Reporting: Write up your findings in a simple, clear report that includes a summary, setup, results, and recommendations for future work.
- Presenting Results: You’ll present your work at project or team meetings.
- Technical Know-How: You’ll need to be familiar with the lab techniques and tools to get the job done and make the most of the available resources.
- Equipment Maintenance: Alongside the local manager, you’ll help keep the lab equipment running smoothly, making sure updates or improvements are made when needed.
- Work Instructions: You’ll own the work instructions for specific test equipment, ensuring everything’s up to date.
- Stay Safe: Make sure to follow all the safety and security procedures we have in place for a safe working environment.
- A degree in a relevant field, such as Chemistry, Materials Science, Applied Science or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Bachelor's level or equivalent is preferred, but relevant experience is also valued.
- Experience working in a lab environment (bonus points if it’s in innovation or research!)
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment, i.e. batch reactors, and several analyzing techniques such as chromatography, viscosity and rheometry measurements.
- A knack for keeping things organized.
- A good communicator who can explain things clearly and work well with others.
- Solid planning skills to juggle multiple projects at once.
- Knowledge of lab safety protocols and best practices.
- Command of English language (spoken and written).
